Use the web
We have always been of the opinion that you should use the rest of the web to promote the Union and drive users to your media.
There are so many amazing websites and communites around the web today and you should make sure that you have presence on as many as possible. Below are a few of the major players which the Union should have a profile with:-
- Facebook. All your students are on there, are you?
- MySpace. Still the biggest social network on the web.
- Bebo. The Scotts and Irish will be on there, so a Union profile can't hurt.
- Wikipedia. If you can get a page about the Union uploaded, it will do wonders for your profile, traffic and help search engines find you.
- YouTube. Create a Union channel and start getting some videos up there.
- Twitter. Start microblogging. If you follow us, we will follow you back.
Treat all of these channels as your friends! Put your content on there, but be sure to retain your best content for your own media. Give your users a taste on these sites, but always drive them back to your site for the full story or video.
